My name is Simão Cortês. I started studying astrology in 2013 with the Portuguese astrologer João Medeiros at his school CEIA – Centre for Education in Integrated Archetypes. Astrology as a way of understanding the world, people and ourselves has been my passion ever since.

I have been working as a professional astrologer since 2016, the same year I won the Portuguese “Astrology Student Award” with the essay “Real and Unreal: Converging Worlds”. I have also been teaching astrology at CEIA since 2017.

I moved to the UK in 2017 and I am located in Canterbury, Kent. Ever since I moved here I have had the opportunity to study with world-renowned astrologers like Geoffrey Cornelius, Maggie Hyde and Angela Voss.

My articles have been published in several astrology journals like the British Astrological Journal, the Brazillian Astrolábio and the Portuguese Cadernos de Astrologia. I have also presented my work in two international astrology conferences: The 1st International Astrology Conference in Maia, Portugal, and the online traditional astrology conference CINAT.

Apart from my career as an astrologer, I have been pursuing an academic career since 2012. I graduated from a Linguistics degree and worked in two cognitive science laboratories, at the University of Lisbon and at Harvard University. In 2017, I changed areas and started studying religious studies in the MA Myth, Cosmology and the Sacred at Canterbury Christ Church University. I am currently a tutor at this program where I lecture on subjects like astrology, ancient mysticism, embodied religious practices and spiritualism.
